The First Post

Here it is. I've been a little slow with the assignments thus far.

I am a high school mathematics teacher. I love it. Currently, I am trying to finish my coursework for a master's degree in educational technology as well as an ITSC. This is my last class. I can see the light!

I really haven't done much blogging. I don't really get into the personal sharing, etc. I do not have a myspace or a facebook account, and I probably never will. These are just not my type of things.

I can see how blogging has changed our society though. People are more connected than ever.

Hey Amanda! I am the same exact way. Practically everyone I know uses Face Book or MySpace, however, neither are my thing. I don't understand how people have the time to mess with a site dedicated to themselves (posting pictures, songs, etc.). Email is enough for me to stay in contact with those I want to. I do see the benefits though of using blogs in an educational setting and I look forward to working with them in the future. I think blogs can be very useful if there is an educational goal in mind. Congrats on finishing (almost) your masters. This is only my second class towards the same exact certification...

Amanda,

Congrats on your first blog! I hope you can see past the garbage on MySpace and FaceBook. There are some great blogs out there for professional purposes.

I look forward to reading more from you...

Hi Amanda! I feel the same as you when it comes to myspace and facebook. I'm still shocked that so many people participate in it and spend such time creating profiles. When I look at myspace pages (it's not often) I find myself almost addicted. I cant stop! It can be very entertaining and I've been able to catch up with people from high school that way but it is time consuming. Your blog looks great!

I am with you and Jodi, not my thing on a personal level, however, I can see possibilities for classroom use or in my case as a place for teachers to gather info on their grade books such as a tip of the day...I am the coordinator of all things grade book :)
